The theme of Grand Gala 2009 was 'The new challenges faced by teh national bodies when regulating the Financial Services Industry in turbulent times'. Keynote speakers were Michel Vermaerke, CEO  Febelfin and the Belgian Minister of Finance, Didier Reynders. The venue was Le Plaza Theatre in Brussels.

In 2008, for the very first time, the best Big Band in Europe from Gustav Brom, conducted by Vladimir Valovic, made its appearance at the Grand Gala evening in Brussels. This evening was dedicated to the theme of ‘The Challenges faced by the Financial Services Industry in Central and Eastern Europe’ and included the following guest speakers: Guido Ravoet, Secretary General of the European Banking Federation, and Prof. Dr. Sylvester Eijffinger, professor at Tilburg University.
